Update:Week One, 13lbs down,Pt. 2

I did my update yesterday and was cleaning up my bathroom to put my scale away. I had a good weigh in and as I do sometimes and I really need to work on not eating off track to reward myself. Anyways since I did eat a bit off track I wasn't sure what to expect and definitely didn't expect a loss.

327. 6!!!!!

That is an amazing 13 lbs lost this week, I can't wait to get in today's workout and do next weeks weigh in, I know that since I'm just restarting my weight loss that its water weight, but I will take it all!

My goal for next week's weigh in is to finally break the 320, I know if I push my workouts, stay on top of my water intake and eat to my calorie goal I can do it.

Until next week!!!

Today I Feel Fat

I know, I know not a very uplifting title, but hey there it is. Today I felt weighed down, sluggish and beyond lethargic. Today was a reminder of why I'm on this journey to drop these pounds because it was not a good feeling in the least.

Today I feel optimistic, because I know that this feeling will pass and I know I'm doing what it takes to leave this behind for good.

Today I feel empowered and educated about my healthy choices. I've been on one too many diets that didn't fail me, but rather I failed. Learned something very real in all that time, all diets work to some extent if you follow them. The trick is learning that its calories in vs.calories out and exercise is a must.

Today I feel strong. Its not easy to make healthy choices sometimes and actually push myself to workout, but as long as I keep doing it, my results will come.

Today I feel just fine. :) No, I'm not where I want to be,but I'm on the road, and though I had a down moment, I think I'll get there.

*Forever The Optimist, 6 Week Challenge*

Ok as you may have noticed by now, I love a good challenge especially when it comes to weight loss. Miss Haneefa's 15 in 15 challenge ended last week and it was fun and helped me stay semi accountable. I'm counting down 6 weeks until my hubby to be comes home for a vacation. He swears that I'm off track when he's home, and I would love to lose 25lbs.by the time he gets home again, but my actual goal is just to stick to a workout and eating plan, so that when he does get home again I'll have made the habit to consistently be on track. :) That's the plan anyways, we'll see how that goes.

I made a calendar of sorts to track my workouts and weekly losses:

I'll be doing Kettlebell workouts 3x a week, BIggest Loser Yoga 2x a week, and to round out my sexy, I'll be doing the Pussycat Dolls Workout at least once a week.

and how I'm tracking:

This is pretty simple as well, follow the glycemis index and eat the right combo of foods. Aim for 1200 to 1400 cals per day and at least 80 oz. Water.

Pretty simple and something I can do past the 6 weeks challenge, so here's to results!

Aluminum Foil Flat Iron

When I first read about this it seemed a little crazy but after reading more information it seemed like it just may seem worth a try.

Simply wrap foil around the flat iron plates, and heat on a medium setting. Apply a heat protectant to hair, I used Fantasia Instant Tea Moisturizer, and then just flat iron as normal, but the results are so different. Well for me anyways.

Freshly air dried with Aussie Moist Leave In.

Loved the results! And my hair came out very soft, smooth, and doesn't have that dry, fried feeling.

Also did a trim to my ends, I'm now a little past NL again but my ends look much healthier:

Product Haul.

Trying to control my PJ habit I'm trying to limit buying products to once a month, ordered some new products from Amazon last night and can't wait for them to get here :)

I've heard great things about MegaTek, but couldn't bring myself to spend $30 on something that I wasn't sure if it was going to work, I found a smaller bottle that I'll be trying:

Since I'll be using the every 3 day wash regimen I'll be applying this to my scalp after washing and leaving on for about 15 mins, then rinsing out and doing a DC with heat.

Finally gave in and ordered some of the Jamaican products!

4OZ. Jamaican Black castor oil and 4oz. Strong Roots Pimento.

I'll be using the Castor oil as I normally do, since I'm finishing up a bottle of the Home Health castor oil and Peppermint oil mix, I'll be using this in my next mix.

I love the results I'm getting from the Pepperming oil and its almost time to buy another bottle, with the next batch I ordered Eucalyptus oil to add in as well.

And finally I ordered something that worked great for my skin in the past, Black Soap.

This got my skin so even and clean and I can't wait to try the organic kind. All in all including shipping this came to $55.32, not bad can't wait until it gets here next week.

My goal for the next few months is to acheive as much growth as possible, as my ng comes in I'll have a better idea of my natural texture before deciding how long I want to transition or if I want to relax, either way I will be stretching my relaxer.

Happy growing!

Dear Old Me,

Dear 75lbs,

Hi there, I've noticed that you've taken my waistline, boobs, belly, and booty hostage and even sent a couple to my face. I'm here to tell you its time to take them back and kick you to the curb. I was going through my email and found some pics of me back before you came into the picture:

I especially love the last pic. You have overstayed your welcome and it past time to give you your walking papers. I know you're stubborn but I have proof that I've done it before:

So I've waged war against you before and won, so I found those old battle plans. :) Remember Dr. Stillman? Yea, I found him again and trust me he's coming to kick every ounce of 75lbs off every part of my body. Lean protein, green veggies, loads of water, and diet green tea sound familiar? Yea, thats what I've got planned, and remember the Biggest Loser workouts? Yea, buddy I'm gunning for you :)

Consider this your fair warning because you won't be around much longer.

Signed,
Ms. Cyone and My Sexy :)

Natural Hair Inspiration #1 Tracie Thoms

Tracie Thoms! I love her natural texture and even if my natural texture turns out to be nothing like this her hair is gorgeous!

Getting Right!

I know I'm about 10 days late on making a fresh start, but hey I've been busy :) Anyways as stated before I'm doing the 21 day Hollywood Trainer to start getting healthy habits in place and I love the fact its more about eating healthier and exercising rather than a diet :) Definitely what I need, I also combined it with my HairLista groups so I have tons of support as well as can motivate others to hit their goals.

I was making my weight loss/hair journal today to keep track of what I'm doing and my successes, and I took one of my old pics of myself and made my ideal body:

and these are the adjustments I want to acheive.

*Reduce my stomach
*Tone up my arms
*Breast lift by exercise

Didn't get a chance to print one out, but backside would love to get the toned lifted butt.

This chick, Anowa Adjah is my body inspiration, she's 5'7 and 206 lbs, I don't expect to acheive her body exactly but I'm planning to come damn close. :)

Weight and Stats:
Start: 340.2 lbs.
Goal: 210 lbs.

Waist: 62" around Bellybutton
Goal: 38" or smaller

Bust/Chest: 58"
Goal: 40"

Hips: 62"
Goal: 42"

Thighs: 34.5"
Goal: Not sure yet, just smaller.

As you can see, I'm a big girl, but I plan on getting much smaller and keeping my curves.

*Grr* Pics won't load will have to upload later. :(

Going Au Naturale

This is something I have been debating about for the last few months since beginning my healthy hair journey I've been flirting with the idea of going natural. Well connection made I've decided to retire the creamy crack.

I was a bit afraid of my natural texture but curious at the same time, intrigued by my kinky, coily new growth, its time to embrace it. Now I have a head too big to do a big chop(BC) lol so I'll be transitioning until I'm comfortable cutting off all my relaxed ends.

I'm currently about 9 weeks post relaxer and have about an inch of new growth, which I flat ironed today out of boredom. Stretched I'm grazing SL:

And when freshly washed my hair becomes a big puffball, gonna be very interesting with natural hair :)

Fresh wash and NG:

I know I have a very interesting journey ahead of me and I can't wait!

New Growth

Ok this may seem like a crazy question but the one thing that's still got me baffled on my hair journey is new growth.
Here are some current pics of my hair, I'm 8 weeks post as of today and it looks like I've got some growth going on but since I'm still learning my natural texture its still a bit iffy what do you think?

Day 1: Evaluation/How I Got Fat?

Today is focused on figuring out how I got here.

The plainly obvious is that I eat too much and move way too little. I'm comparing what I did now and what I did then that were different to lead me to success.

Exercise seems to be the biggest factor, when I graduated high school my first job was Subway, between doing prep, loading the front, stocking the fridge and freezer, making bread, baking bread, cleaning dishes, taking out trash and cleaning the restaurant, I was moving my entire shift. Then I would walk before work or to work, and after work I did more cardio and weigh training. So I ended up putting in two hours of exercise on top of what I did at work.

Eating also was on track because I ate breakfast at Subway so I normally snacked on veggie strips, grilled chicken strips, shredded cheese, either on a Atkins wrap, or made a salad in a cup with ranch dressing, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, bell strips, turkey, ham or roast beef. Lunch I normally made an employee sub, and my favorites were the Subway Club, Chicken Bacon Ranch, the Subway Melt, the BLT, and since I made my own I piled on the veggies and went light on sauces. Grabbed a bag of light or baked chips and sometimes a cookie and lunch was set. Dinner was usually another sub if I didn't feel like cooking or a salad. And I know they say diet sodas are bad for you but I lived on Sprite Zero, Diet Coke with Lemon, sweet tea, and water.

But hey it worked in the first 6 months I lost about 60lbs, and it really seemed like it was effortless, I wasn't intentionally dieting and enjoyed my life and the weight just fell off. :) Lovely wish I can get back there again.

So I'm asking myself what changed and how did I regain the weight plus more?

My current job I'm a collections rep for Directtv and I'll be honest I sit on my behind 8 hours a day and get little to no exercise. Due to boredom I snack all day on candy, chips, soda, and juices, being honest its very possible in just snacks alone to rack up 1000 calories and thats not including actual meals. I know, very sad. Also in my first year here I had a love affair with the Zaxbys Club basket and sweet tea, or the Wings and Things platter. I didn't know it at the time but I was racking up about 1300 calories just at lunch, so added to that one meal and my snacks I was already at 2300 calories, scary to think what all 3 meals totalled.

Hmmm, see where I'm going with this? I also worked 12 to 9 so my schedule was crazy I was eating early, eating late, and wasn't doing any shape, form, or fashion of exercise. So looking back its nots suprising I went from 240ish back to 332 in my first year.

So what am I going to do? The obvious answer is to stop stuffing my face and start moving my ass. Very simple.

Slight side track, I watched the season premiere of the Biggest Loser last night and I haven't watched the show in years, honestly it always made me feel bad watching these people lose weight and never seeming to find the motivation to get myself to do the same thing. But last night my brother told me to tune in, and I'm glad I did.

I realized that another reason I haven't been giving myself a chance, 5 mins into exercising if I start to get a winded or a little pain and i give up. Some days I barely make it through a warm up before I quit. How sad is that. I was ashamed of myself looking at these 400lb+ people and people my own weight push themselves past their limits and keep on going.

They wanted this! Hell, I want it to so why don't I push myself the same way?

I have a blessed opportunity coming up when I will have my house to myself for about the next two months. I have no one to distract me from working out, no one else to cook for, I have the chance to set up my own Biggest Loser ranch and I have got to take advantage of it.

Wow, didn't mean for this to be so long, lol but that's today's evaluation :) I'll be taking my weight and measurements tonight to post and see where I am now and where I'm going.

2011 Goals

I've been putting off making this post for the longest, scrolled through everyones blogs making their resolutions for the new year and I just couldn't bring myself to make mine.

2010 wasn't a good weight loss for year, I had my strong points and I'm proud of them, but I spent far too much of this past year and the years before prepping for, coming off, or restarting a diet.

I started the year at 363 lbs.and a size 28, I weighed in on New Years Day at 331.4 and in most clothes I'm a size 24, seems like I made progress but I really don't feel like it.

I graduated high school in May 2004 and I weighed 332 lbs. That means to me in the last 6 years I've only lost a little more than half a pound, now that is depressing.

I realize I have a problem with diets and food. I love to plan a new diet, to put restrictions on what I can eat and dream about what the outcome of these imposed restrictions will be. I can count calories with the best of them, even calculate point values with my handy calculator. I can give you mosy carb grams, fat grams, hell even protein and fiber mostly just from memory. I've tried nearly every diet from A(Atkins) to Z(Zone) yet, and still I'm fat.

Actually correction I'm obese, I'm 5'4 and 332 lbs. Thats not cute, I can't consider myself thick, chunky.plump, chubby, this ain't baby phat and I ain't getting any younger. I'm sick of being fat and unfortunately I seem to be stuck where I am.

I miss the girl in these pictures, I've never been then but in these I was about 240 lbs. The smallest I've been since I was about 13. I got down by following a low carb diet and actually working out every day, I was working at Subway so I was on my feet all day, moving and lifting boxes and whatnot all day. It didn't take me long to go from 332 to 240. And again I wasn't slim, but I was at a healthy weight for me.

My clothes fit, I didn't have a gut, my skin was clear, eyes bright and I was a happy person. This was quite a workable weight for me.

Currently I'm up 90 lbs from that person and my goal is to reach 225lbs or less. A little over a 100 lbs, once I reach it I'll reassess and decide if I need to lose anything else.

I will be eating lower carbs, mainly using just whole grains, oatmeal, and brown rice.

Some other recommendations I got from my doctor that I'll be implementing:

1. 4-5 water bottles daily.
2. Eat any type of salad (chicken/shrimp/tuna/salmon/beans/etc.) with minimal dressing EVERYDAY!!!
3. Brown rice and oatmeal.
4. No red meat.
5. fruits and veggies.
6. No eating after 8pm.
7. NO FAST FOOD PERIOD.
8. Exercise at least 5x a week.
9. Eat breakfast before 9AM.
10. Keep calories within 1400 to 1600 cals a day.

I'll also be trying to blog on a daily basis, I've noticed I do better when I stay accountable. :)

Happy New Year everyone!
